David Dowsey produces museum quality books to special commission that are amongst the best in the world. His specialty is luxury subjects written with high-level subject knowledge, deep commitment, and scrupulous attention to detail.

He researches, writes and project-manages the complete production of luxury books with trusted world-class photographic, design, illustration and printing partners to ensure the highest levels of quality, accuracy and presentation.

David Dowsey’s writing CV includes: exquisite published books on various subjects that are considered the best of their type; extensive experience writing and editing magazines, websites and noted international journals; speechwriting; public relations; marketing and brand building.

His published work includes the best-selling Aston Martin: Power, Beauty and Soul (which has had five imprints, along with two special limited editions); A Le Mans Diary; and Making the Cut: The Power and Passion behind a Tailoring Dynasty.

Also in development is a new book – Coming out of the cold  – about John Morgan & Co of London, which intriguingly acted as tailors to Harold Macmillan and John F. Kennedy at the height of the Cold War.

His latest projects are The Long Blue Line, a feature-length screenplay bringing to life Donald Campbell’s famously problem-plagued 1964 Land Speed Record attempt at Lake Eyre, South Australia. Then there is the first in a series of The Tailoring Detective fictional crime novels, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.

A graduate of the University of Melbourne, David Dowsey initially came from a classical music background; a subject for which he maintains a deep respect.

He has had a genuine and passionate interest in classic cars – and Aston Martins in particular – for many years after first coming into contact with that marque through the famous Corgi toys. He then went on to own one of the British cars. Currently in his stable is an Alfa Romeo GT1600 Junior.

David Dowsey’s profession as a motoring journalist has allowed him to sample some of the greatest cars from around the globe; taken him to the factories and birthplaces of Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, Jaguar and more; and provided access to some of the most famous personalities in motoring and motorsport.

He has been a long-term devotee of artisan-made clothing and footwear, having commissioned bespoke suits and shirts made in London, Naples, Florence, Bergamo and Sydney and custom-made shoes built in Paris, London and Florence.

His other interests include Art Deco architecture and design, food and wine, antiques, custom-made musical instruments, watches, aviation, sailing, perfume, jewellery and fashion.
